A fallacy is incorrect argument in logic and rhetoric resulting in a lack of validity, or more generally, a lack of soundness. Fallacies are either formal fallacies or informal fallacies.

It is beneficial to have an understanding of logical fallacies when utilizing assertive speech to be able to keep a conversation productive for all parties, and when having discussions about negotiations and consent.

Fallacies are often defined as being part of a sub group: Formal, Informal, and Conditional/Questionable fallacies.
