A slave name is a name specifically given by an M-Type to their slave and can serve several purposes such as:

  • Confidentiality
  • Renewed Identity or Empowerment
  • Objectification
  • Empowerment
  • Liberation
  • Whimsy

It could also serve any other purpose the Master decides and can be chosen for any reason they deem necessary.

Some traditions include naming a slave after something they need to learn or embrace to keep this notion constantly in their minds every time their name is said.

Some traditions also indicate one is to use the birth or legal name so as to embrace slavery as their pure and true identity.

Some slave names are changed, others are permanent.

Reasons and traditions will vary widely between practitioners.

A slave name is not the same as a scene name.
