Vanilla Kink, also known as "slap and tickle", is a term used to refer to lighter forms of BDSM play which are often the realm of beginners that are looking to add some new erotic excitement to their sex lives.

The term is used in contrast to those that practice heavier forms of play such as some of the more specialized disciplines and also those that practice edge play.

Examples of vanilla kink might include:

  • Light Spanking or slapping
  • Use of light restraints and a blindfold
  • Use of sensation objects like feathers and ticklers
  • Use of insertable objects like vibrators and dildos
  • Light Dirty Talk of giving/receiving of simple erotic orders
